Sugar Cookies

2/3 c shortening (or butter)
3/4 c sugar
1 t vanilla
2 c flour
1 egg
4 t milk
1 1/2 t baking powder
1/4 t salt

Cream sugar, shortening and vanilla. Add the egg and milk and beat until light and fluffy. Sift in the dry ingredients, and blend into cream mixture. Divide the dough in half and chill.

Roll onto lightly floured surface. Cut into shapes. Bake 350 degrees F for 8-10 minutes.

Makes 3 dozen.
